UFO Day

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday. I enjoyed mine, but I know any thing that involves a lot of family can be tricky to navigate sometimes. I ate leftovers again today, and I still have more left! I left most of the leftover food with the kids, so I don’t have too many to eat myself.

I did some online shopping on Friday and then designated the rest of the day “UFO Day”. I had found the quilt top I pieced on my last quilting cruise, and it was almost finished except for one of the pieced borders.

When I went on the cruise, I hadn’t cut quite enough of the dry brush blue, but I had more in my stash, so I went ahead and got the top finished. It took a few hours to get it done, but here it is:

Now it’s in the “to be quilted” stack. It’s big enough to be a Day One Graduation Project quilt, so that’s probably where it will go.

I also had a few more borders to finish on our 2026 church raffle quilt.

After:

I had debated about adding another pieced border, but I decided it didn’t really need it. It’s 96” x 96”, so plenty big enough. This one is also in the “to be quilted” stack. I already have the backing cut, so it will be ready to be quilted soon.

Today is our fifth Sunday potluck at church. I got a spiral ham on sale at the store, and I also fixed a hashbrown casserole last night, so I’m all set.

  1. I love the border on the first quilt shown here. It makes the quilt so much bigger without having to add more blocks. Enjoy! ;^)

    1. Thank you! I can’t remember the finished size; somewhere around 65” x 75”, so a fairly large size.

  2. The ham and casserole sound pretty good after all the leftovers we've been eating! We are actually having steak and baked taters today to have something different. :D The church raffle quilt looks beautiful, nicely done.

    1. The hashbrown casserole was all eaten, but I have enough ham left to fix a ham sandwich tonight. Steak and baked potatoes sounds good! Anything besides turkey and dressing!

    1. Thank you! It’s a fun quilt; it takes four charm packs or a layer cake, and I will definitely make more from that pattern.
