Inspiration!

Betty and I drove to Cuero yesterday to attend their quilt show. It was nice, and it looked like the attendance was pretty good. It wasn’t a very large show, but they have a pretty small guild. Well, it’s a small town, after all. I took a few pictures, not everything, but I took pictures of the ones that inspired me.
This was one of my favorites. Very pretty.

The butterflies were hand quilted. I took a closeup of the quilting.

Here’s a pretty bargello:

And some more pretty ones,

This was an old one made from sugar and flour sacks, according to the tag. It said it was about 100 years old. I always am interested in the old ones.

Can you guess which one inspired me? It was the exploding heart. I bought a pattern from one of the vendors to make one. I know they have been around for a couple of years, and I wasn’t interested before, but all of a sudden, I felt like I needed to make one. I’m going to do it!

  1. Here is what I love about your Cuero quilt show - it has the kinds of quilts that I can relate to and love and make myself. That is much more inspiring to me than the big quilt shows which are full of modern masterpieces. It is really nice to see what I consider "real" quilts.
I love Exploding Heart - I made one for my husband in 2021! I have every intention of making one again; it is such a unique pattern.

    1. I like them too! They are real-life quilts that someone was proud enough of to enter in a show. I can always find something that I am inspired to try myself. I am anxious to get started on the exploding heart quilt.

    1. No problem. I think it’s a glitch with Google.
