I felt like another narrow border of the blue would help enclose the lighter yellow and white colors, so that was an easy choice.
Yes, that definitely helps. A quilting friend suggested I add another purple border, and I have enough purple to do that. I was thinking of something like a picket fence-type border. I made 10 or 12 of the purple blocks, and started doubting myself.
This is where I started thinking about what I was doing. Everything was looking a little too matchy-matchy for me. I am primarily a scrap quilter. I started with a scrappy center, and I think I need to get back to that.
I am planning to continue with the picket fence blocks, but make them in more colors. I have started pulling out more of the orange, yellow, and blue. I can still use the purple ones I have made. It will take a little more time, but I think it will be worth it. I’m not sure what the final dimensions will be. I may just keep going until I decide it’s “enough”.
I’m linking this post to Anja Quilts.

The extra time is definitely going to be worth it. I look forward to seeing how it comes together!
ReplyDeleteI just hope I can get it done sooner rather than later.
DeleteLove the idea of a scrappy picket fence, that will look so pretty! I made two more blocks for mine yesterday, now I need to calculate my sashing and setting triangles and get on with it, or I'll put it aside and wait too late. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh don’t put it aside! It will look so nice when it’s finished.
DeleteSometimes I find the last border to be the most challenging, as I can't always find the stopping place, so good luck with your picket fence blocks! It's a lovely quilt, for sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you and I 100% agree that it’s hard to know when to stop.
Deleteit is looking really good!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen.
DeleteI really like your center star blocks, and then how you pulled colors from them for each of the next borders. The picket fence border is really going to be fun!
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with taking more time to finish it up in a way that you feel good about! It is such a pretty quilt, and you've made so many good choices! Have fun playing with it and finishing it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up with SAHRR. I think it looks great as it is. But I hope you figure out what you want for an additional border.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea of picket fence borders. It will frame your quilt beautifully. See you at the parade!
