Quilting and Volleyball

That pretty much sums up my life right now. I’m happy to say I got the binding put on JoNell’s Dallas Cowboys quilt.
That’s one thing off my list.

I’ve been trying to finish up some tops that were started by a customer that passed away, and this is one of them.
She had put the side borders on but not the top and bottom. Her niece brought me all the extra fabric, and I was able to cut more of the stripe fabric for the top and bottom border. Unfortunately, I don’t like the way the corners look. It needs to be mitered, but the sides had already been cut off, so not enough for a miter. I fussy cut some of the floral to see if I can make a cornerstone.

Another option is to add a small piece of the solid in the corner.

I also fussy cut a different floral to see how it would work for the corners,
I think this one is too busy. I can see why the original owner got stuck and didn’t finish this top. I’m certainly stuck. I need to figure it out.

My granddaughter’s volleyball team won their district match, and last night they played The Woodlands Area Christian Academy.

Serenity’s season is over, so she went with me to watch Kat play.

Our girls won, so there will be another game on Saturday. I don’t know yet who they will play or where it will be.

  1. Congrats to your granddaughter. When we lived in The Woodlands we used to go watch our granddaughter play volleyball, and their school often played the same Christian academy. That quilt is really pretty and colorful.

  2. What a lovely post! Your color choices for the corners are really interesting - have you considered using the solid as a thin frame around whichever floral you choose? That might help tie it together. And congratulations on the volleyball win! There's nothing quite like watching our granddaughters play sports.

    1. I had not thought of that--I think I will need to try it out and see. Thanks for the great suggestion!
