Stafford Quilt Show

I was able to attend the Stafford quilt show on Friday. It’s about a 110 mile drive for me, so I was pretty beat when I got back. I have never minded driving, but it does tire me out a lot more than it used to. I wasn’t able to get the pictures posted to my blog yesterday as I wanted to do a little editing to correct the backgrounds and the lighting. When there are a lot of people looking at the quilts you are trying to photograph, you have to get the shot pretty quickly instead of dilly-dallying to get the perfect shot.

I didn’t photograph everything; I have been to several shows this year, and sometimes it feels like I am looking at the same quilts over and over. I did get a few pictures though. Of course, we are celebrating the 250th birthday for American so there were plenty of patriotic quilts. These are some group displays.

And, some of the judged quilts were patriotic. These are two that I got pictures of.

Otherwise, I took pictures of some things that inspired me, so it’s not all inclusive.

I spent a lot of time looking at this Dresden. I made one when I was younger. I made it with pastel fabrics on a white background, and I never liked it very much. I’m not sure where it went—probably gifted to someone. I think I would like to make another one at some point.

This is one of the Escher quilts. It’s been on my to do list for some time.

Another Escher quilt. So pretty.

It rained some when I was in Stafford, and I was so disappointed it didn’t rain any at my house on Friday, but I’m happy to say it rained all day yesterday. I checked the rain gauges last night before it got dark, and I got 1.7”. That great news. I’m hoping we’ll get a little more before it dries up again.

Last night I worked on my potato chip blocks. I’ll have pictures soon!

  1. That sounds like a lengthy but fun trip. Those quilts are amazing. I really like that judged flag one. So glad you got nice rain!
