Free Pattern

 This is so pretty…

It’s a free pattern from Andover fabrics found here.

I love the pattern, but I don’t love the size. I think it could be made bigger by enlarging the templates. It’s worth a try I think. Those striped triangles had me thinking of trying the pattern with string pieced blocks. Wouldn’t that add an unexpected element? I think it would add an interesting look to the blocks.

One Goal Done

I got some more over-the collar dog bandanas made for the quilt show sampler store.

I found some more Christmas fabric in my stash and I hadn’t done any in red Christmas fabric, so I decided to sew up a few. True confession: I bought a size small one that Walmart and took it apart for the pattern. It was an Easter one they had on clearance for $0.99. I sized it up and down proportionally to get the other sizes.

We had a busy day at church Tuesday. It was time to deliver the comforters we have been making. We made deliveries to three of the dialysis centers and to the infusion centers at two of the hospitals. Afterward, we went back to the church and started pinning more to get them ready to sew. And, of course, we went out for lunch. Most of our work days include going out to lunch.

Tuesday night was volleyball. It was three close sets, but our girls won each on. I think the first set went to 35 points.

Tomorrow I will be able to spend all day at my shop and hopefully get some binding done.

What I'm Working On

I ordered some border fabric for my Songbook top from Etsy, and I got it this week! You never know about the shipping times when you are dealing with Etsy, so I was pleasantly surprised to get it so quickly. I have left a review for the seller saying how happy I am. Here's the fabric I ordered:

I am quite partial to that olivey green in this fabric line. The top is together and I have the first border put on.

You can see the second border to the left of the top. I am going to get that put on today and at least get the outer border cut. I would be great if I can get it put on, but I'll have to see how it goes. Now that I'm looking at the picture, I can see there is going to be a whole lot of the olive green going on in this one. I would like to get it all put together and then lay it out flat to get a better idea.

Back on Track

Hopefully, I can get this to post on the right day! I have been working on customer quilts almost exclusively.....in other words, nothing of my own. I know I have said before that binding is not my favorite, and it turns out it is not a lot people's favorite. I have had so many requests to do binding, that I added as one of my services. Currently, I have about 10 quilts waiting for binding! I got three done yesterday, and they were picked up this morning.

The cow panel has a lovely purple grunge for the backing, and the binding is the dotted grunge.

I have said before I want to stay busy, so I am not complaining, but.....I may need to block out a few weeks to work on my own stuff. That is if I ever get completely caught up.

More of the Same

Note: This should have posted Thursday, but I forgot to select “publish”.

Not too much of interest happening around here. The days pass so quickly.

Tomorrow is our quarterly WELCA meeting, and it’s a salad luncheon. I made this recipe to take. I added cooked small shrimp to it.
It made a bunch, so I hope it all gets eaten, but I have a feeling I will bringing quite a bit home. I ate a small serving tonight as a taste test, and I think it has too much celery. Next time I won’t add a full cup. Other than that it’s very good.

I am still working adding hanging sleeves to my quilt show quilts. I left one on the couch and the dogs walked on it with muddy paws so I am trying to figure out how to get all the marks out.

To-Do List Tuesday 9-13-22

So far so good on last weeks goals. I got the quilting finished on my latest charity quilt.

The back is a black and white circle print, and there is enough left for the binding. Of course, I could also bind it in red, and I think I have enough red binding already made. We'll see.

I got the songbook top pieced, minus the borders, and I got Candy Land completely finished. Pictures are in last week's posts. I did not find a backing for Hanging Gardens, so that can go on the current list.

This week’s list:

1) Get the hanging sleeves added to the quilts going into the local quilt show. Our show is the 23rd and 24th, so this is a priority, and there are three to do.

2) Find a backing for Hanging Gardens.

3) Put the borders on the Songbook quilt. I ordered the outer border fabric from an Etsy seller, so this one is entirely dependent on that fabric hitting my mailbox this week.

4) Binding for charity quilt.

That is probably more than enough, and maybe even more than I can get done, but hey, any progress will be good. I am linking this post to TexasQuiltGal.

Another Finish

Oh happy day! I got the binding done on Candy Land!

The binding matches the back—I wasn’t able to match the solid teal on the border. I’ve had it several years and can’t remember where I originally bought it. This was my June UFO, so it was about time I got it done.

Let’s see…what else? My friend Alan is in the hospital with some kind of weird infection. I finally made it by to visit with him today. He is on antibiotics via IV, so not sure when he will be able to go home, but I do know this. Type 2 diabetes is not something to mess around with. There are serious consequences to not managing that disease.

The glasses came today that I had ordered. The dogs had chewed up another pair. I only use them for reading or sewing so I have a habit of laying them on the coffee table, and then they are fair game I guess. I need to buy stock in Readers.com as I order three or four pairs at a time.

We went out to eat a Gonzales cafe. The most hole in the wall Mexican restaurants have the best steaks, at least around here.

They had a 10 oz. Ribeye with six grilled shrimp for $18.99. You can get salad and potatoes or rice and beans with it. I didn’t love the fries and will get the rice and beans next time, but the steak and the shrimp were really good. I had leftovers which I brought home for the dogs. They really didn’t deserve it after destroying my glasses, but I don’t hold grudges. Lucky for them.
