Wednesday

Hahaha! I do say it that way in my head when I am typing. Now I am wondering if everyone does that.

Yesterday was a busy day with church in the morning and volleyball in the evening. Thursday is the last home game of the volleyball season, but I’m sure there will be playoffs. St. Joseph is number one in their district.

I had a couple of hours free in the afternoon and worked a little with the Kaffe design role. I am cutting the strips and sewing them into pairs.

The sun was really coming through the blinds when I took the pictures. I think this is where I am headed with these, but I need to get a few more made so I can work on the design.

I hope today will be productive. I want to get a little done with cutting up my scraps. I did 15 minutes yesterday and mostly made a mess, but that’s how it usually goes.

To-Do- List Tuesday 10-18-22

Can you believe it's already been a week?! I always feel like the week gets away from me, and I didn't do as much as I should have. But, when I go back and look at last week's goal list, I did more than I realized. Aren't we always too hard on ourselves? Here's last week list, with a progress update:

1) Get a binding on grandson’s quilt. Done and gifted.

2) Work on the green and aqua strip sets, and see how many blocks I can get done. All the blocks are made, and I started putting them together, although I didn't get far with that.

3) Finish piecing the Keyhole quilt. I have the center pieced, but I can't figure out where I put all the extra pieces I need for a border. I'm sure I have them somewhere, but ???
4) Get the strips organized for Wistful, and see what I still need to cut. Done, but I seem to be missing some pieces to this one as well.

I am beyond frustrated with this "losing stuff" situation. Both of these quilts will go back into the closet until I can find what I need. This is not bringing me joy.

For this week, I am going to keep it simple. The scraps are starting to pile up, and I think anything smaller than a fat quarter needs to be cut into squares. Yardage that's smaller than 1/4 yard will get cut into strips. The last time I did a major effort on cutting up the scraps, I ended up making several quilts from the strips and squares, so it does help me use everything. And, well, that is the point. It gets a little intimidating so I will break it up into short intervals.

This week's list:
1) Spend 15-30 minutes each day cutting up the small pieces into useable squares and strips.
2) Work on the Kaffe Fassett design role. I started last week, but haven't gotten farther than adding a black strip to each strip.

3) Bind the customer quits I quilted last week.

Have a wonderful week, everyone. I will be at church today working on the comforters we make for local medical facilities. It is always a fun day, and it usually involves lunch out, so that is a bonus. In the meantime, I am linking to TexasQuiltGal.

Free Pattern

I saw this picture on Pinterest, and was able to find the pattern on the Andover website. I will definitely be making this, just don’t know when. I have quite a few black and white prints that I was planning to use for another project that never happened, and this would be a perfect way to use them.

The pattern can be found here.

Progress

Well, I am busy administering dog medicine, and Rosie seems to be feeling much better. She is refusing the antibiotic pills, so I hide them in a chunk of wiener, which she will eat. I just have to watch her to make sure she doesn’t eat the wiener and spit out the pill.

I finished the alterations on Kathryn’s homecoming dress.

It turned out to be a little more work than I bargained on. I was able to open the lining at one of the back darts, make the needed alterations, and hand stitch the lining closed. There are four rows of ostrich feathers that had to be taken off and restitched once the seams were taken up.

This is par for the course for girls that are tall and skinny. Once you find something long enough, it is generally too big in the body. Once upon a time I was tall and skinny myself. Now I am just tall. LOL.

I also got The binding on Roger’s quilt and sent it home with his mom.

I really hope he will love it and use it. He’s already eight, so I don’t know how much longer he will like the Mario print. No worries….I can make another whenever he wants it.

I have another granddaughter that wants me to teach her to crochet, so that is on the agenda to happen pretty soon. The kids never have much free time, and I really don’t either, but I will make time for them.

I spent Saturday afternoon putting binding on customer quilts so I am not working much on my own stuff. Maybe soon.

Happy Saturday

It seemed like the weekend sure took its time getting here! I sat in the vet's office all morning yesterday with a sick dog. When I called, they said come in and they would work me in as they could.

Look at this sick doggie....the final diagnosis was gastroenteritis. In other words, she most likely found something nasty in the yard and ate it. She got some shots, and I got some stuff to give her by mouth for the next week.

I have done a lot of quilting and binding for customers this week (more to do today), and I sewed a little on my own projects. I bought a Kaffe design roll and had been trying to figure out what I should do with it.
I had some half-baked idea of sewing black strips to each side and rotating them, but then I realized that would look like the woven pattern that I have done several times before. I finally decided to just add the black to one side, and then I can see what pattern I can come up with by rotating the pieces.

I truly love these bright colors. I haven't quite figured out how wide to cut the pieces. I think four inches will work. I will only cut a few until I can get something figured out.

Airing of the Quilts Part 3

I am on the laptop today, so I will try and get all of the rest of these all into one post.

No provenance on this one:

Airing of the Quilts Part 2

Hers are some more of the vintage quilts that were on display in Cuero last week.

I am having trouble formatting these on my iPad. I will try to work on them a little more tomorrow when I can use the laptop.
