Victoria Quilt Show 2024

I have quite a few pictures to share. It make take more than one post to get them all posted. I am trying remember which were the winners, and I think I have mostly forgotten.

This one was first place in bed quilts, and this one was second:

The medallion was actually my favorite, but that’s no surprise as I always like the medallion settings. I tried to crop these photos, but I see now that I may not have saved the cropped photos.

Here are some more of the quilts:

I will have some more tomorrow. Have a good Monday.

Weekend Update

Hello blog friends. I got back from vacation late Tuesday night, and the days since then were spent doing laundry and prepping for the quilt show. My vacation was a four-day trip to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge with two girlfriends and my mom.

It was just long enough to have a good time, but not get too tired. Anyway, my favorite place to be is home.

The quilt show ended yesterday. It was a lot of work, but I think it went well. The overall attendance was down this year, although I’m told it’s always down when it is an election year. I am the vendor chairperson, and I stay busy with that all year. I did notice that a lot of visitors were visiting the vendors and seemed to be making purchases, so that was encouraging. Here’s a look at some of our vendor booths:

So many of them do such a good job with their displays.

I have pictures of the quilt entries (of course), and I’ll try to get those posted soon.

The St. Joseph homecoming game was Friday night, and even though I was tired, I made it a point to attend. My granddaughter was a member of the homecoming court, and I didn’t want to miss that.

She is the one in blue in both pictures. I was glad to get home and get into bed. I am headed to church this morning, and this afternoon I want to at least vacuum and dust and unload the dishwasher. Clean bathrooms are also a priority, but I feel like I will run out of steam before it all gets done.

Just Checking In

I thought I would check in and give a quick update before I leave for vacation. I have been a busy girl, trying to get things finished before I leave, and now I am a tired girl. I will need a vacation just to catch my breath.

I got this one done, and it should be picked up this morning.
It is 101" x 101" square, so quite big. A church from a nearby town is buying it for their annual raffle. I also sold them one last year, and they said it did really well. I hope this one will also do well for them. The name of this pattern is Hanging Gardens, and I pieced it when I had a king-size bed but never did quilt it. I no longer have a king bed, so it sort of sat. Interestingly enough, I made it with a different border.

The ladies who came to look at it weren't sold on the border with the cranes, and they asked me if I would change it to solid black. What? I really didn't want to, but I did it, and now that it's done, I'm okay with it. It gives it a very dramatic look, so maybe that's what they were looking for.

I also have been stuffing pumpkins. I got this little one done and donated it to a local church that is having a fall craft show.
I saw some other stuff they had made, and it's all really cute. I made this one for me:

I have two more stuffed but not decorated.
These two will go to the silent auction at my church. At least that's the plan.

I am so happy to have a few things off my list. Of course, I still need to do laundry and pack, but then I can relax.

To-Do-List Tuesday 9-17-2024

The days are moving so fast, one sort of runs into the next one. I am leaving Saturday for a short vacation, and the quilt show setup starts as soon as I get back, so I have been pushing myself to get as much done as I can. Unfortunately, it wasn't all on my list.

1) Replace borders on raffle quilt and get it quilted. I replaced the borders and it is on the frame now.
It's a big one so it will take a little longer to get it quilted and bound.
2) Quilt three customer quilts. I did four.

3) Work on the borders for the June workshop quilt. All I did was remove the side borders. I am in the process of working on new ones, but I'm not quite done.
4) Bind sweatshirt jacket.  Another one I started and didn't finish yet.
I did get the binding sewn on, and I’m in the process of stitching it down.
5) Stuff some pumpkins. 🎃 No.

I’m making a new list, but I won’t be posting next week since I will be on vacation, so I will update it week after next.

1) Quilt and bind the raffle quilt.
2) Quilt three customer quilts.
3) Finish sweatshirt binding.
4) Work on borders for the June workshop quilt.
5) Stuff some pumpkins.
6) Have fun on my vacation.

I’ll be gone for about five days, but there is still time left this week, and of course, I’ll have the rest of week when I return, so progress is definitely possible.

Have a good week everyone. I am linking this post to Quilt Schmilt.

To-Do-List Tuesday 9-10-24

Ha! I put a lot of stuff on last week's list. No way I got it all done, but I did made a good attempt. Here's my results.

1) Bind two quilts. No, although I got the binding made for two projects.
2) Quilt three quilts. Yes. As a matter of fact, I did four.

3) Julie’s tee shirt quilt. No
4) Catch up on BOM’s. Yes.

5) Play with the potato chip blocks and the 5” squares. Yes. No significant progress, but I did complete a few more blocks, working on them as leaders and enders.
6) Borders for June workshop quilt. I found the nine patch blocks I made for the borders, so I should be able to make progress on it. Yes.
It's not quite what I wanted, and I am thinking I will take the side borders off and do something else.
7) Stuff some of the pumpkins I sewed. No.
8) Work on the pincushion kit I bought. Yes.

9) Replace borders on raffle quilt. Not quite. I got the old borders taken off, and I got the new ones cut out, but they haven't actually made it onto the quilt yet. This is a have-to-do this week.

It looks like Number 9 on last week's list needs to be number 1 on this week's list.

1) Replace borders on raffle quilt and get it quilted.
2) Quilt three customer quilts.
3) Work on the borders for the June workshop quilt.
4) Bind sweatshirt jacket.
5) Stuff some pumpkins. 🎃

Well, that’s enough for now. There are three or four in-town volleyball games this week, today is quilting at the church with a WELCA meeting/luncheon after, two quilt guild meetings on Thursday, and a doctor appointment tomorrow. And, that’s just the things I can remember off the top of my head. Oh, my CPA called, and I am missing some documentation in the paperwork I turned in last month, so I need to look for that.

Have a good week everyone. I am linking this post to Quilt Schmilt.
