I started some mindless sewing over the holidays—mostly just to have something to work on that didn’t require too much energy. I like tonsew random pieces from my scrap bucket together; sometimes I join squares and strips
and, sometimes I start with an irregular polygon (pentagon or hexagon, usually), and sew strips around it.
I like the term scrap vortex, but I also call it improv piecing. I cut them 12-1/2” or 15-1/2” because I have rulers in those sizes.
I got these 12 finished this week.
It was one of my weekly goals, so I was happy to finish them. They are 12”. I’m thinking about sashing—I think I will do one of the BQ patterns.
The vortex blocks look fantastic together!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It is my favorite type of piecing.
